A Family in Need of Our Help
The family of Rodney Holdren are seeking financial assistance as we struggle with several life threatening disease processes that have impacted Rodney's life. Fairbanks resident, Rodney, 22, suffered a massive heart attack in May of 2008. During his treatment and recovery he was diagnosed with IgA Nephropathy (an autoimmune disorder), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), and End Stage Renal Failure (ESRA). Rodney spent the next 11 days in ICU and now must receive dialysis (peritoneal) every day of his life or until he can receive a transplant. Rodney is a very strong and positive young man and has worked hard at gaining control of his life. As if this was not enough, more bad medical news was delivered to Rodney in 2009. He was told that he now was suffering from a rare blood disorder, Hemochromatosis, and he must undergo weekly treatments at the Cancer Center to treat this disease. Needless to say, the financial impact has been difficult.
Rodney is a very outgoing and talented young man. He finished high school early at 17 so he could pursue his passion in Emergency Medicine. He was 18 when he became an EMT and worked on the Emergency Squad and Fire Department. He continued his education in Emergency Medicine and became an advanced EMT. Rodney is now employed at Fresenius Medical, working with dialysis patients. He is a passionate and dedicated young man, serving the needs of others in the medical community.
Rodney's mother was found to be a match to donate a kidney to Rodney as soon as he is healthy enough to undergo the operation. The transplant will involve Rodney and the donor to be in Seattle for 6-8 weeks for the transplant and monthly visits for Rodney, to Seattle, for check-ups after returning to Fairbanks.
Any donations received will be used for the following:
• Airfare for Rodney and the donor
• Medical expenses not covered by insurance
• Accommodations during medical testing in Seattle
Thank you, in advance, for taking the time to read and consider a donation, and for all of your help and prayers, from the family of Rodney Holdren.
